Student Grievances

CGU Online has zero tolerance for discrimination and sexual misconduct. The university has clear, strict policies to maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment for everyone.

Discrimination

Discrimination based on race, sex, color, religion, nationality, age, disability, sexual orientation, or gender identity is strictly prohibited. The university upholds international and national legal standards prohibiting discriminatory practices and speech.

Sexual Misconduct

Any form of sexual misconduct, harassment, or moral misconduct violates the dignity, rights, and well-being of individuals. CGU Online actively prevents such behavior through awareness initiatives, defined policies, and a structured grievance process to report and address these concerns.

Academic Grievances

Academic grievances typically involve disputes over grades, course content, faculty conduct, or academic policy non-compliance. Students are encouraged to address these matters first by speaking with the concerned instructor. If the issue persists, it should be escalated to the Academic Coordinator or Department Head. Should the concern remain unresolved, students may formally submit a grievance through CGU Online’s established procedures, ensuring all necessary documents and evidence are provided.

CGU Online Grievance Procedure

1. Informal Resolution
Before initiating a formal complaint, students are encouraged to access the following support resources:

  • Dean of Student Affairs: For confidential discussions, advice, and initial mediation.
  • Department Head or Supervisor: Especially if the concern involves a CGU Online employee.
  • University Counselors: For emotional support, guidance, and external referrals.
  • Advocacy Groups: For students facing bias, harassment, or discrimination.
  • Mental Health Services: For additional well-being support outside the university, if preferred.

2. Formal Complaint Process
If informal resolution fails, students should document the issue and file a formal grievance through the appropriate channels:

  • Complaints Against Other Students: Submit a written complaint to the Dean of Student Affairs, who will convene a Conduct Board comprising faculty, staff, and student representatives. This board will review evidence, meet relevant parties, and issue recommendations within three weeks.
  • Complaints Against Employees: File the grievance with the respective Department Head or Supervisor, who, in consultation with Human Resources, will investigate the issue and decide on appropriate actions.

If no specific complaint procedure applies, students can submit a general grievance categorized under Academic or Non-Academic matters via the official online form.

Types of Grievances

1. Academic Grievances:

  • Unfair academic actions by faculty.
